Lovely Vintage Covered Candy Dish

Pressed glass, or patterned glass, is produced by using a plunger to push molten glass into a mold and was first patented by John P. Bakewell in 1825 when it was used to make drawer knobs.   By mid-century this method was being used to produce  mass quantities of affordable and attractive yet durable tableware pieces for everyday use.  Pressed glass was produced in England, the United States, and Canada, with the U.S. factories outnumbering the others.

It enjoyed popularity until the 1920's when crystal took it's place.  However, with the advent of the depression people could no longer afford crystal and switched back to cheaper patterned glass.  This period in it's history was know as the depression glass period.   New patterns and colors were introduced and it is now very collectable.  Similar methods of producing patterned glass are still used today all over the world.  Glass is highly collectable both for it's aesthetic qualities and it's function.

Here is a lovely vintage covered candy dish in a clear ribbed pattern.  It is in excellent condition with out chips or cracks and stands 5  1/4" tall with a 5" diameter.

Asking - $15

Vintage Mosser Pink Glass Covered Butter Dish

This is a very unusual vintage Mosser pink glass covered butter dish.  I've always loved pink depression glass.  I say this is an unusual one because it is made up of two different Mosser patterns.  The cover, or lid, is in the Thistle pattern while the under plate is a Cherry & Cable Thumbprint design.  Intentional, or 2-accidentals, I don't know, but it is still lovely!  It is in good condition without cracks but it does have a bit of roughness/fleabites on some of the edges which are felt rather than seen.  This is a nice heavy piece and is quite pretty!

Asking - $25

Elegant Crystal Pedestal Dish

This is a beautiful cut glass crystal pedestal dish, age and manufacturer  unknown.  The only makers mark I could find is a small crescent shape seen on the inside of the bowl.

This dish would look elegant on your holiday table holding cranberry sauce, or as a romantic centerpiece.  It measures 6  1/2" in diameter by 4 3/4" tall.

Asking - $15

Victorian Toy Butter Dish

How sweet is this!  A Victorian child's butter dish in the twist pattern  made with flint glass.  Flint glass is an optical glass that has a relatively high refractive index and low Abbe number.   Say what?  It is a very lustrous glass, made with flint.

I've been told that the butter dish was probably part of a set that was less toy and more of an instructional tool for young ladies on how to set a proper table during the Victorian age.  It stands 2  1/2" tall and 3  1/4" wide and is in excellent shape, free from cracks and chips but it does have a little roughness on the inside of the lid.

Toy or tool...it would be an elegant addition to a bridal breakfast tray!

Asking - $40
