Victorian Toy Butter Dish

How sweet is this!  A Victorian child's butter dish in the twist pattern  made with flint glass.  Flint glass is an optical glass that has a relatively high refractive index and low Abbe number.   Say what?  It is a very lustrous glass, made with flint.

I've been told that the butter dish was probably part of a set that was less toy and more of an instructional tool for young ladies on how to set a proper table during the Victorian age.  It stands 2  1/2" tall and 3  1/4" wide and is in excellent shape, free from cracks and chips but it does have a little roughness on the inside of the lid.

Toy or tool...it would be an elegant addition to a bridal breakfast tray!
