Wedgwood Embossed Queensware Trinket Box

The Wedgwood name dates back to the 1759 when Josiah Wedgwood left his employment with Thomas Wieldon and started his own pottery manufacturing company with the help of his new wife's sizable dowry.  It turned out to become a good investment!

In 1765 he created a new creamware that so impressed the British Queen consort Charlotte that she gave him permission to call it Queensware.  The motifs used for embossing Wedgwood Creamware , Jasperware, Basaltware, etc were influenced by the ancient cultures being studied at the time such as Roman, Greek, and Egyptian.  Many of Josaih's descendants were closely involved in the management of the company up until the purchase of it by The Waterford Glass Group in 1986 forming Waterford Wedgwood.

This vintage piece of lavender on cream Queensware was manufactured during the 1970's and measures 5" by 4".  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or hazing.
