Fostoria Glass Co.'s most successful line (#2056) was American and was produced from 1915 up until the plant closed in 1986 and it is one of their most copied and most misidentified patterns of all time. These are NOT Fostoria American, they are Jeannette Cubist pattern.
The Jeannette Glass co. produced the Cubist pattern mainly between 1929 to 1933 with most of it being in colored glass. Scarce now these colored pieces are hard to find, but the clear crystal individual creamer and sugar bowl were produced for a much longer period and are still fairly plentiful.
One difference between Fostoria American and Jeannettes Cubist is that Fostoria triple-fired theirs to make a much smoother, clearer finish to their glass. The second way to tell the difference is in that the handles on a Fostoria set extend to the top of the piece whereas on a Jeannette they are further down, about half an inch.
The verdict is in and it is that this Jeannette Cubist creamer and sugar bowl is a lovely set worthy of gracing any table! No chips or cracks, they are in fabulous condition.
